Sports Medicine is a medical specialty concerned with the prevention and
treatment of injuries and disorders that are related to participation in
sports.
A sports medicine nurse assess patient health problems and needs, develop
and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. A sports
medicine nurse typically administers care to patients in a hospital or
clinical environment.
May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide
case management. Sports Medicine nursing is practiced by nurses who have
specialized formal, post-secondary education and who function in highly
autonomous and specialized roles.
