Diagnostic Imaging Nursing Career
Resources
Diagnostic imaging is a radiological production of a clinical image
using x-rays, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance
(MR), radionuclide scanning, or thermography. These can provide three-dimensional
and cross-sectional images to further understand medical conditions and
aid in diagnosis.
A diagnostic imaging and procedures nurse typically administers care to
patients in a radiology department, emergency department, or interventional
surgical suite.
Diagnostic imaging and procedures nursing is practiced by nurses who have
specialized formal, post-secondary education and who function in highly
autonomous roles.
