A nurse working in internal medicine has the ability to work within many different medical departments. An internal medicine nurse has a broad base of medical knowledge applicable to a variety of medical fields including cardiology, pulmonary medicine, neurology, gastroenterology etc.
An internal medicine nurse assesses patient health problems and needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, and maintains medical records. An internal medicine nurse typically administers care to patients in an inpatient setting.
